Blacksmithing for Beginners
Welcome to Blacksmithing! After a brief safety and tool introduction, we will begin exploring the basics of metal forging. Participants will start out using a propane forge, a hammer, and an anvil, to make a simple hook. This will cover some of the most important forging operations, tapering and bending. While making hooks, other important aspects of forging will be introduced like stance at the anvil, hammer and heat control. As an intro to working in a blacksmith shop and MakerSpace Charlotte facilities, this class is designed to cater to all skill and comfort levels.
